The Los Angeles Lakers would have won the NBA Finals in five games, had Danny Green made that game-winning three. But he missed, and the Lakers had to play one more game, which they ended up winning comfortably.
Following that miss, Green was subjected to a lot of hate on the internet. From jokes to threats, he received it all. Recently, he made an appearance on the Ringer Podcast where he spoke about that missed shot.
Green said, “People don’t look at us as human beings many times, they look at us athletes. I’ve been in this league long enough…to get used to that criticism. Even after we won, people are like ‘oh you did this’. Yeah, we won. Even with me not playing my best we won.”

Danny Green says he doesn’t owe anyone but his teammates an apology
Green talked about how the only ones he owes an apology to are his teammates and coaches, not the online trolls. He said, “Fans are very emotional for the game, they see us as performers and when we’re not performing as we’re supposed to, then we’re supposed to apologize for it.”
Green added, “I don’t owe you an apology. Whether I played shitty or not, you’re not my boss. I’m not going to apologize for missing shots. I apologize to my teammates for mistakes and missed assignments, if I mess up a play or defensive rotation. But I don’t owe you anything… I know how to block out the noise and ignore or block people’s pages. Being in LA, I’m kinda conditioned to it. I understand it’s human nature. They don’t care about circumstances, they want to see good basketball.”

Will Green improve in his second season with the Lakers?
After signing a two-year $15 million deal, fans expected him to do better than 8.0 points per game and 36% from three. He is a career 40% shooter, so the Lakers expected him to be a sniper. But it looks like age has caught up with the 33-year-old, and now that contract looks silly.
