Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook has tested positive for coronavirus. While most of the Rockets players had arrived inside the NBA bubble, Westbrook wasn’t a part of the team.
Westbrook released a statement on Twitter revealing his infection. In his statement, Westbrook assured he was feeling well and urged everyone to take the virus seriously.
“I tested positive for COVID-19 prior to my teams departure to Orlando. I’m currently feeling well, quarantined, and looking forward to rejoining my teammates when I am cleared. Thank you for the well wishes and continued support. Please take this virus seriously. Be safe. Mask up!” the statement read.

Westbrook along with fellow superstar, James Harden wasn’t a part of the Rockets side that started practice sessions inside the bubble in Orlando. Talking about the absence of their star men, Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni said it would not be long before they join the team without revealing the reason for the absence. While Westbrook said he tested positive for coronavirus before the team traveled to Orlando, the reason for Harden’s absence is yet unknown.

Not long ago, D’Antony praised Westbrook and said he had high expectations from his star man for the remainder of the season. He felt Westbrook somehow managed to up his game during the playoffs.
“If you go in his history and career, he’s always played better in the playoffs. He turns it up a notch. How he does that? I don’t know,” D’Antoni said last Wednesday. “Because his notch is pretty hot. But he turns it up a notch. And yeah, I expect him to be more efficient. I think he’ll come at you and he’ll give it everything he’s got. I do know that.
