“False Narratives”: Nets Star Kyrie Irving Rubbishes His Alleged Comment on LeBron James

The Lakers have done wonders in the postseason. It is only natural that anything involving its star, LeBron James, will pick traction and evoke debate. At least that is what happened when a carefree Kyrie Irving spoke something and folks were quick to attach it to Bron.

Mr. Overtime dropped out of the 2019-20 season after a right shoulder injury. This limited his time on-court but allowed him more time to stay active off-court. So he did! But now that activity landed him in thick soup after one of his comments got misinterpreted (as per him).

Did he take a Ky-ridiculous dig at LeBron James?

Kevin Durant, Kyrie’s partner-in-crime (pun intended), recently introduced a talk show. The very first episode garnered enough attention when Kyrie was quoted saying, “I felt like I was the best option on every team I’ve played for down the stretch. This is the first time in my career where I can be like that mother*****r can make that shot too.”

Now, him and LeBron James played together for three NBA seasons as Cleveland Cavaliers teammates. Kyrie calling himself the best certainly sounded as if he is comparing and keeping himself above The Akron Hammer. As the surrounding controversy picked heat, the onetime NBA Champion came out with an explanation.

He detailed, “Why must it always be brother against brother? Why? If I’m addressing anyone, I’ll say their name. Come on y’all. Don’t listen to the false narratives. Let people live their lives, it’s just a game.

“Talk about sport, talk openly and freely. But coz we love in a click-based society, it becomes something bigger. You don’t have to defend it. It’s just …it’s entertainment. I’m not gonna put myself against anybody anymore at any point coz that’s not what it is about.”

That’s so unlike his character!

The man went public to accept that he believed the Earth was ‘flat’, which later gave him another nickname. He is someone who would speak his heart out, caring less about the impact it can create in the age of social media. So for him, coming back to clear his stance certainly amounts to something.

The six-time NBA All-star played an anchor role in Cavs’ comeback from 1-3 down in NBA Finals 2016. However, he later left the team to join the Celtics. Since then, there have been occasions when he and LeBron played against one another. Have a look at this faceoff-

Very certainly, Bron must be too busy to make a comment or even discover what Kyrie had said and later ‘un-said’.
