When Boston Celtics’ Jason Tatum was asked to name five best players of all time, the list contained four players from Los Angeles Lakers. Two of the players- Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson- played fully for the Laker, while Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s majority of the career went with the Los Angeles franchise. Current Lakers player LeBron James was also in the list while Michael Jordan was the only player without any Lakers reference.

Tatum asked basketball fans to bring out a few questions via Twitter on Thursday. During the short Q&A session, one of the questions asked Tatum to name his Top 5 players of all-time. The good part for Tatum was that the fan asked him to name the players in no order. Hence, Tatum did not have to be a part of the LeBron James – Michael Jordan debate.

James is the only active player in Tatum’s list of all-time great. He is currently in his 17th season in the NBA with the Lakers being his third different franchise. His quest for a fourth championship is, however, in jeopardy as the NBA remains suspended.

With the league inactive, many felt James would benefit from it with some rest to his body. However, James does not feel it benefits him.

Talking in the Road Tripping podcast, James said: “When you’ve been building six months of conditioning and preparation and then [it’s gone], the narrative that I don’t like [is], ‘Well, now guys get so much rest’ or, like, ‘LeBron, he’s 35, he’s got so many minutes on his body, now he gets so much rest’.

On the contrary, James felt that the untimely break would disturb the rhythm.

“It’s actually the opposite for me because my body, when we stopped playing, was asking me, like, ‘What the hell are you doing?’ he said.

“My body was like, ‘Hey man, what the hell is going on? It’s March 13th, you’re getting ready for the playoffs, why are you shutting down right now?’ And I was right there turning the corner, like, I felt like I was rounding third base, getting ready for the postseason. So the rest factor, I think it’s a little bit [overblown]. Especially when you’re in the full swing of things.”
