San Fransisco city officials have made several attempts to prevent mass gatherings in the City in the wake of the spread of Coronavirus. However, Golden State Warriors continue to host NBA games at the Chase Center in front of large crowds.

After the Office of Mayor laid out a few recommendations to prevent the spread of coronavirus, Missionlocal.org reported that several city officials have spoken to the Warriors to stop holding games.

“I have personally spoken to the head of the Warriors organization, Rick Welts,” Supervisor Aaron Peskin said. “I have expressed my desire that they do this voluntarily before. In the days ahead, we do it as an emergency public health order. It’s not a matter of ‘if,’ It’s a matter of ‘when’. I hope they come to that conclusion before we make them come to that conclusion.”

Although the Warriors did not cancel any games, they did caution the fans regarding the possibility of contracting the virus on entering the arena.

“Chase Center has put preventive measures in place due to the spread of COVID-19. However, attending tonight’s game could increase your risk of contracting coronavirus. By entering the arena, you voluntarily assume all risks and agree that you will not hold GSW arena LLC, the NBA or any of their respective affiliates or employees liable for any resulting illness or injury.”
