LeBron James has had the pleasure of playing with several NBA all-time greats. From Dwyane Wade to Anthony Davis, LBJ has shared the locker room with many superstars, but statistically, they are not his best teammates – Alex Caruso is!
Yes, the Carushow is the best teammate that LBJ has ever had per advanced stats. Moreover, the duo’s connection is clearly visible on the floor. James trusts Caruso during crunch moments of the game, and this was on full display when they played against the Houston Rockets.
In the dying minutes of the game, Caruso made an important three for the Lakers in Game 4 of the WCSF. He was assisted by the 35-year-old LeBron on that particular play. But prior to this amazing chemistry on the floor, there was a time when James had no idea who Caruso was. In an interview with Ben Cohen, Alex said, “He definitely didn’t know who I was.”

Caruso is at the top of the elite list when one considers the net rating. King James and Caruso had the league-wide highest net rating of +18.6 in the 2019-20 NBA season. Head Coach Frank Vogel quickly realized this was more than a statistical fluke.
During the playoffs, Vogel increased Caruso’s playing time to nearly 24 minutes per game. This was six minutes more during the regular, and Caruso accepted this opportunity with open arms.
Caruso is averaging a solid 6.7 points per game while being a presence on the defensive end of the court. Perhaps he is the spark the Lakers need to bring home an NBA championship.
