Kobe Bryant is one significant name that would pop up if one asks you to cite an example of a clutch player in the league. Likewise, LeBron James too, has been an important name in the last 20 years.

These clutch players come up big, especially during the fourth quarter. The final twelve minutes decided how a game will conclude, and players like Kobe and LeBron have taken numerous shots when the clock winds down to its final seconds.

Here are the Top 4 players who have scored the most points in the fourth quarter during a single season: 

  1. LeBron James (2007-2008)

The 2007-08 regular-season to date ranks as one of LeBron James’ best ever displays. He unleashed his inner beast and averaged a massive 30.0 PPG including 7.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game.

LeBron agonizingly finished only 4th in the MVP voting despite posting these numbers, and he was incredibly good during the fourth quarter as well. King James posted a total of 645 4th quarter points and comes up fourth in the list. 

  1. Russell Westbrook (2016-2017)

Many teams felt the powerful wrath of Westbrook during his 2017 MVP season. He averaged a triple-double for the entire year and carried the same form for the next two seasons as well!

Brodie amassed several records during his historic run besides joining Oscar Robertson as the only two players to have averaged a triple-double during the regular season. 

He averaged 31.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 10.7 assists with the Thunder and notched up 681 fourth-quarter points which puts him in the third position on this coveted list. 

  1. Isaiah Thomas (2016-2017)

Aren’t we all surprised? Some genuinely might be astonished looking at Isaiah clinch the second spot here. He is currently a free agent who’s looking for a team, but his extraordinary talents were on display during the 2016-17 season with the Celtics

He frankly outplayed every other point guard in the league and defied critics with his incredible bursts of speed. Thomas put up 28.9 PPG to finish the season as the third-best scorer in the league. His 684 points scored during the 4th quarter ranks him just above Westbrook in this one.

  1. Kobe Bryant (2005-2006)

Ah, clutch Kobe! One can always reminisce about ice-cold Kobe draining in clutch shots and sending away his opponents in spectacular fashion. Kobe set a new standard in fourth-quarter scoring during the ‘06 regular-season and finished miles ahead of anybody.

The Lakers icon put up one of the finest displays of attacking basketball during the 2006 season and he averaged 35.4 points per game while shooting 45.0% from the field.

Furthermore, he amassed a total of 715 fourth-quarter points which is why he leads this special list.
