Dion Waiters was just like a child until he became LeBron James’ teammate. It is something he himself wrote in an article for The Players’ Tribune.

Waiters started his NBA career in 2012 after Cleveland Cavaliers had drafted him with the fourth overall pick in the Draft. Waiters, according to his article, was just an innocent kid at the time.

“I ain’t gonna lie to you. Back then, in those Cleveland days? I was still a kid, too. A dumbass kid, trying to figure it out,” he wrote.

It was the time when LeBron James was trying to add rings to his career with the Big Three in Miami Heat. James came back to his hometown club in Cleveland in 2015. It was when he showed Waiters a few things in life.

“[LeBron James] used to show me different wines, different kinds of food. I was Philly Philly. I was raw. But Bron took me under his wing — and now all these years later, here we are again. Less hair, more wisdom. Life is crazy, right? Damn,” he further wrote.

Even Waiters’ son seems to have developed a good bond with James. He loved it when his father was teaming up with James for the second time. The 2014/15 season was Waiter’s last in Cleveland. He then played a season for Oklahoma City Thunder before joining Miami Heat.

In February earlier this year, Miami Heat traded Dion Waiters to Memphis Grizzlies. However, the Grizzlies waived after just three days. A month later, Lakers singed Waiters meaning he would team up with LeBron James once again.

Waiters’ son was also overjoyed with his father teaming up with James. “When my son found out I was going to the Lakers, he went bananas. Buh-nanas, bro. He’s known Bron since he was a baby, when we were in Cleveland. That’s his guy.”

He is yet to play for the Lakers as the NBA suspended the league soon after. Prior to the suspension, the Lakers were on top of the Western Conference with 49 wins.
