Late Los Angeles Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant, headlines the 2020 class of Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame inductees.

Born in Philadelphia, Bryant had already made a name for himself playing for Lower Merion High School. He led the team to its first State Championship in 1996. Later that year, Kobe became the first guard to be drafted into the NBA directly from high school. Charlotte Hornets selected him as the 13th overall pick in the 1996 NBA draft, but traded him to the Lakers on draft night.

Bryant soon became a superstar player in purple and gold. In his sophomore season, Bryant became the youngest player to earn an All-Star selection. Over his 20-year career, it was only twice that Bryant wasn’t among the All-Stars.
