Los Angeles Lakers’ New Decision Will Cheer Fans as Well as Donate to COVID-19 Funds

A few NBA teams including Los Angeles Lakers have taken steps that would cheer the fans as well as contribute to helping people amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Sporting teams from Los Angeles are selling merchandise at a discounted price and the revenue which it generates will go into the city Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund.

Lakers joined other sporting clubs in the city who are taking part in the cause. It included Clippers and Major League Soccer’s LA Galaxy and NHL club LA Kings. The sale consisted of jerseys, T-shirts, shorts, caps, jackets among other merchandise. Also included are legendary European footballer Steven Gerrard’s LA Galaxy jersey and LA Kings’ St. Patrick Day practice jersey.

For the NBA fans, the sale had Kobe Bryant jerseys and NBA All-Star jerseys among others. Among the biggest price cuts was a Lakers cap that came down to $30 from its original price of $200. All this, of course, would contribute to a good cause.

Consumers could also buy clothes for the needy in the store. It ranged to $20 to $500. The LA Store’s website showed it would provide six articles of clothing for $20.

Los Angeles Lakers among the NBA teams with coronavirus cases within the organization

The Lakers were among the teams that announced there were a few positive cases of coronavirus within their organization. The first case in the NBA was Utah Jazz’s Rudy Gobert. The NBA had then immediately suspended its league. Later, a few more cases came up within the NBA. Among the teams to announce were Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers apart from the Lakers. Nets’ Kevin Durant was among the biggest names in sports to have come in contact with the virus.

Prior to the league’s suspension, the Lakers were on top of the Western Conference. LeBron James, along with Anthony Davis, was leading the Lakers’ quest for the first Championship in a decade. With the league suspended indefinitely, it remains a threat to their Championship dream.
