The NBA off-season has been running at a frantic pace. We are seeing multiple players signing with unexpected teams, we are seeing the top teams like the Lakers getting stronger and more.

But the NBA is still waiting for one decision. Whether the reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo will sign the Supermax deal offered by the Milwaukee Bucks or not.

The Bucks’ off-season success or failure now depends on Antetokounmpo. If he extends the contract the Bucks will be the biggest winners, but some teams are prepared for the worst.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst explains how some teams are expecting the MVP to not sign the extension. He says, “If you look at the moves that teams have made whether its the Miami Heat signing four players to a one year contracts or the Toronto Raptors tailoring the contracts of their players so that they have the room next year, or the Dallas Mavericks making trades to clear-off guaranteed money, those teams believe that Giannis may not sign it.”

The decision that the reigning MVP will take will be very crucial. If he declines the extension we will see a mad rush and dash to prepare for his possible free agency.

Could Giannis join LeBron and the Lakers?

The biggest name on this year’s free agency is Anthony Davis. Davis is one of the talented players and had a great season at the Lakers. He is expected to re-sign with the Lakers.

The Brow is reportedly working on the details of the deal. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst says that Davis might be waiting for Giannis’ next move. He said, “It’s unusual for AD to delay his re-signing for this long. One of the things he could be watching is what Giannis does. If Giannis commits to sign an extension, we could see AD to sign for longer.”

He continued, “If Giannis sets himself up to be a free agent next year, that might spur Davis to sign only a one year contract with a player option which is a kind of deal that LeBron James is on to leave flexibility in Lakers’ payroll.”

If this move ever happens, their will be a complete meltdown. Imagining a three of Davis, LeBron and Giannis is outright scary. If this happens we might see the best super-team ever assembled in the NBA history. A team better than the Warriors and the Heat super-teams.

For now the Lakers will be focused on Davis. Having already brought in so many good players, re-signing Davis from the free agency is the only thing left on Lakers’ agenda.
