The Los Angeles Lakers point guard, Rajon Rondo, has opted out of the final year of his contract. The 2-time champion was an integral part in bringing the franchise their second title. His incredible performance has attracted a lot of suitors for him as he enters free agency.
Atlanta Hawks are the team that is being linked to Rondo the most, along with Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics. When it comes to the Clippers, they direly need a point guard.
Someone who can help out on the offensive end of the floor and make sure that the Clippers’ star players, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, get the best shots possible.

In addition, the Atlanta Hawks are in search of a backup guard, which Rondo could fill up. On his best days, Rondo could be the experienced veteran coming off the bench and could use his passing skills to run the offense when Trae Young rests.
However, bringing in Rondo is a gamble. This is because he lacks consistency and “playoff Rondo” and “regular season Rondo” can vary largely.
Does Rajon Rondo have a coaching gig in his future?
Despite Rondo’s shortcomings, NBA legend Rod Strickland believes that he has a bright future as a coach because of his leadership skills.
He raved on about Rondo to Scoop B and said, “Just because of his IQ and the feel. He’s a master of the game. He obviously studies the game; he knows everything about anyone else’s defense, so he probably knows all the coaches’ plays already, right? Because he studies so hard.

“I can see him walking into a film room and knowing every coaches’ plays. And he’s a point guard, so he had to be a leader, he had to instruct people.
“I think it’s going to be so natural because he’s doing it right now; you know, he’s the point guard of the World Champions [Los Angeles Lakers] but, I can guarantee you he was one of the coaches,” Stated Rod.
“Sometimes people don’t want to hear that but, we’re coaches on the court. If you’re playing 10-15, 17, 20 years and you’re a point guard playing at a high level, you’re a coach.

“You have to control the game, you have to control the huddle, you have to control the locker room… there are so many things so I think it’s going to be a natural progression with him.”
Where Rondo will land remains to be seen, but does he have the potential to be a coach?
