According to Darren Rovell from The Action Network, In 2014, a card collector had posted that he had returned the same 1/1 card to his eBay seller, all because it had a yellow stain on it. At that time, he had bought it for $7000 and now it has been sold for more than $1.8 million.

He posted on twitter, “BREAKING: The Giannis Logoman card was purchased for a modern-day basketball record of $1.812 million by @onlyaltofficial, which also bought the previous record holder, the $1.8M LeBron card, six weeks ago.”

This card belonged to the 2013-2014 National Treasures set before being put up for auction on the Goldin Auctions website. The card was graded as 9 and the autograph was graded as 10.

It is priceless because that patch is the NBA Logo from Giannis’ Jersey at the time of his rookie season. The card was speculated to hit the $2 Million mark at this auction but seems like it missed it by a decent margin.

What’s more intriguing about this fact is that this card was sold for more than LeBron James‘. While James’ Upper Deck Exquisite rookie auto patch card was graded a 9.5 and the autograph was given a 10, it still was purchased at $1.8million. He missed Giannis’ mark even though he is a more established player than him.

However, his accomplishments are no less. He has won the MVP award for two consecutive years and is also a four-time NBA All-Star.

The Milwaukee Bucks may not have had a great season but we can’t say the same for Giannis. There are many doubts about whether he will stay within the Bucks when he enters free agency. Nevertheless, he has proven himself time and again and might be the face of the NBA one day.
