2020 has been a tough year, with the world is going through a pandemic and seeing its fair share of losses.

A tragedy shocked the NBA earlier this year when Kobe Bryant lost his life in a helicopter crash. Actor J. B. Smoove described that day in his recent appearance in Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay.

Recalling the day, Smoove said, “If I stand on my roof I can see further enough, I can see almost in the vicinity of where Kobe crashed at from my house.” He added, “I don’t think I have ever seen it this foggy in my life and it was an eerie kind of fogginess outside. it was that bad.”

He explained how he felt when he received the news about his crash “My friend, Shannon Smith, texted me and said, ‘hey, I just heard something that came across the news saying that Kobe’s helicopter crashed’.

“My heart jumped out of my chest.

“I got of my car and stood in the parking lot. I’m looking around, like, ‘did anybody know what the f**k just happened’?

Smoove says that the Lakers had to win, as this win made the team’s story picture-perfect. “This is Big for LA. This is what needed to be done, they needed to win this to complete the story.” He added, “They gotta do it for the city of Los Angeles, they got to do it for Kobe”

He lauded LeBron James and his leadership during the playoffs. “Im happy that LeBron had enough confidence in his team and had enough on the team confidence on what he wanted to do”

How Lakers could retain the Championship

The 2020-21 season will be underway in just a month’s time. The off-season is in full swing, and the LA Lakers should take this as an opportunity to bolster their squad.

The Lakers are wary of their increasing competition and have taken a step in the right direction. LA traded for Dennis Schroder from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange of Danny Green and their 28th pick.

In Schroder, the Lakers are getting a great point-guard with elite defense. With the imminent departure of Rajon Rondo, Schroder becomes much more important to the team.

The champions also need to add some shooters from the free agency. Davis Bertans seems like he can be a wonderful addition to the Showtime Lakers.

Bertans had a breakout year last season. He can add the much needed shooting ability the Lakers will miss after Green’s departure. This will also take some burden off of Anthony Davis and LeBron James.

The Los Angeles Lakers will be facing a tougher competition than last season, but they are determined to defend the championship.
