As the NBA is nearing its return date, there is a major aspect of the league that we will have to look into. When the league resumes, there will be eight regular-season games remaining for each of the 22 teams. The towering MVP candidates Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James would look to excel in these eight games to claim the award.

For Giannis, a victory would mean that he would be the recipient of back-to-back MVP awards, becoming the first player since Steph Curry to achieve the feat. On the other hand, LeBron James would be quite eager to win his fifth MVP honors, which would put him on equal terms with ‘His Airness,’ Michael Jordan

Both athletes have had a spectacular season so far. LeBron at the age of 35 has been tirelessly working to carry the Lakers to the top. Owing to his presence in the team, the Lakers are the favorites to win the title this season.

But Giannis is no easy player to defeat. The ‘Greek Freak’ is up and running from the knee injury he sustained in March. The Bucks star posted a tweet that depicts his mindset filled with responsibility and concentration ahead of the season’s restart.

Many analysts tend to discuss this year’s MVP candidates and state their views. Some side with Giannis while others pick LeBron. DeMarcus Cousins recently appeared on the Jalen & Jacoby show to express his views on why LeBron James should win the MVP award this year.

People think Giannis is leading the race at the moment and that LeBron needs to overtake him. But, DeMarcus Cousins has a different opinion and strongly feels that LeBron will win the award this year. Here is what the 4x All-Star had to say about LeBron James when asked what he should be doing to overtake Giannis Antetokounmpo in the MVP race:

“Overtake him? I think he’s the MVP,” Cousins said. “He’s 35. He’s the only player in the league with gray hair. What more do you need? He’s doing this with gray hair and a gray beard,” he exclaimed. “What more do you need? If you don’t pick LeBron, you’re just a flat-out hater,” Cousins added.

Cousins’ answer cracked up the hosts and sent them laughing. Though LeBron James isn’t leading the Lakers in scoring or rebounds, he leads the league with an average of 10.6 assists per game. LeBron and Giannis are both incredible players, but only one of them can be named MVP. Who you think should win it?
