The Miami Heat avoided their third loss in a row after getting a win over the in-form Indiana Pacers. This game was an anticipated one for the duel between Jimmy Butler and T.J. Warren. They had an ugly battle last time they faced each other and it ended with Warren getting ejected and Butler blowing him a goodbye kiss.

Butler didn’t have the most efficient game, but he led the Heat in scoring and got them over the finish line with ease. Heat veteran Goran Dragić talked about Butler’s performance postgame. “He’s so consistent, he’s our leader. You can see, he can manipulate the game a little bit. For us, as long as we put the ball in his hands, he’s a willing passer, too. So it makes our job easier.”

Butler shot just 5-13 from the field but was clinical from the charity stripe going 9-11. He had a great performance on the glass, grabbing 11 rebounds tonight. Postgame, he uploaded a picture of him dancing and enjoying in training with the caption, “Mood.”

His tough leadership was too much to handle for the Timberwolves who shipped him away to the Sixers. Philly couldn’t keep him for longer than a season so now he is at Miami, leading a team of determined youngsters who are embracing the dark horse tag. Butler has always been the hardest worker on any team, and the youngsters are learning this from him.

“Jimmy has taken me under his wing since the summer and really just pushed me and showed me the right way and has given me confidence and has really put me in the right spots,” rookie Tyler Herro said back in December.

The Heat have had an inconsistent run so far, going 3-3 in the bubble so far. They now face the Thunder again on Wednesday before a rematch against the Pacers to end their seeding games.
