Rajon Rondo has been quite popular lately. His post-season credentials improved to a great extent after his successful stint with the Lakers in the NBA Playoffs 2020. He joined the playing squad late, but when he did, his contribution was visible and impactful.

The 6’1” guard listed his career’s second title and became the second player ever to win rings both with the Celtics and the Lakers. After the game, he proudly stated that there was no way any team could’ve defeated him and LeBron James for four matches. He also very honestly revealed that his free agency will depend upon the conversations with his manager.

Now, reports are strong that he is ready to entertain free agency. So which are the three teams that might want his services?

Rajon Rondo to the Boston Celtics?

Rajon will approach his 35th birthday when the NBA season 2020-21 will kick-off. He played for the Celtics for 9 straight seasons at the beginning of his illustrious career. If his retirement is anywhere within the next 2-3 years, what can be better than winding it up with the team that made him a champion at the age of 22?

Leaving the emotional part aside, Rajon can be a great ‘wild card’ signing for the Celtics who have a fairly younger team. He can help the glass-cleaners of the Celtics with his passing skills. They have the talents in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown who are both in their early 20s, but what they lack is an experienced champion to lead them to their 18th championship win.

The LA Clippers

Before signing with the Los Angeles Lakers, rumors were strong that Rajon will be interested in taking his services to the Clippers. He had a troubled outing with the Dallas Mavericks that ended abruptly in bad taste. His time with the Chicago Bulls, Sacramento Kings, and Pelicans also remained short-lived where he played just 13 post-season games in total.

The LA Clippers can benefit from Rondo’s defensive capabilities. The man averaged 12.2 assists with the Pelicans in the 2017-18 playoffs and later 6.6 assists & 1.4 steals with the Lakers in the post-season that recently closed with them becoming champions. So, he can compliment the Clippers’ offense and depth with his complimenting ability.

Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavs had one of the worst defenses in the league this past year. Kevin Porter Jr., Darius Garland, everyone in the roster failed to pull the franchise up defensively. This is exactly where Rajon can fill the gap with his experience. Also, the Cavs do not have LeBron James and JR Smith with them now, but they can attract a player who has played with both these players.

Rondo surely is not huge in size, but he can still make a difference for the Cavs given that his services won’t cost them huge. Rajon has a $2.96 million with a player option with the Lakers and he can strike one such deal with the Cavs too.

Last but not the least, the Lakers can again resign him as well. Only time will tell where this highly experienced champion will move.
