It was indeed a special moment when the Los Angeles Lakers won the 2020 NBA championship. LeBron James secured his fourth career ring with this win, but a lot of them on the Laker team enjoyed their first-ever championship when they won it in the bubble. For stars like Alex Caruso, it was a dream come true to be in this position.

Alex Caruso joined the Lakers in 2017, but the move wasn’t straightforward. He was initially signed as a two-way player, which meant that he would switch between playing in the NBA and the G- League, for the South Bay Lakers.

Thus, Alex Caruso’s journey in the NBA has been earned, and he is reaping success now. The 26-year-old’s former South Bay Lakers team posted a throwback video, where one can see Caruso instilling confidence in his teammates with an electric speech. 

“Rarely does the person who competes with their head, as well as their body, come in second,” Caruso yells in the video. Furthermore, the G-League team paid the perfect tribute to their former player by posting pictures of Alex Caruso holding the coveted Larry O’Brien trophy. 

Alex Caruso played two seasons with the South Bay Lakers and the most memorable one came in 2017-18. He averaged 19.0 points and 7.7 assists a game, and shot 54.5% from the field!

Alex Caruso did start Game 6 of the 2020 NBA Finals, which came as a quick fire move. Caruso has mostly been a player who comes off the bench and makes valuable plays for the team. So far, he’s been able to shine in his role, and the 6’5” guard has been excellent defensively too. 

Caruso displayed his incredible talent in the 2020 NBA playoffs and created a large impact with his performance. Lakers’ head coach Frank Vogel was bursting with compliments for Caruso before Game 2 of the finals.

“He’s impacted the games a great deal,” Vogel said. “He really has the ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball, which is what we love about Alex, is the more two-way players we can have around LeBron and Anthony, the better. He’s an elite-level defender. He can guard multiple positions.”
