“We Can’t Outrun the Virus”: NBA Commissioner Willing to Cancel Season Only on One Big Condition

The NBA season is nearing its restart, and the fans are more excited than ever. The NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, however, has made a statement about the possibility of canceling the season. Silver in a conference call on Friday said:
“We believe we’ve developed a safe and responsible way to restart the season, We are left with no choice but to learn to live with this virus. No options are risk-free right now. We can’t sit on the sidelines indefinitely. We must adapt. We’re coming back because sports matter in a society. They bring people together when we need it the most.”
The NBA has made several arrangements in Orlando

But after the reassuring words, Silver later revealed that in certain cases, the NBA season may be canceled. While speaking of the arrangements made in Orlando, Florida, Silver said:
“We haven’t worked through every scenario … [but] if we were to have a significant spread of coronavirus throughout the community, that ultimately might lead us to stop it. We’re not saying full steam ahead no matter what happens … but we feel very comfortable right now with where we are. Of course, we designed our campus, in essence, to isolate ourselves from whatever the levels are in the surrounding community.

There has been much division among the players regarding the resumption of the season. There are several players including Kyrie Irving, Dwight Howard, and Avery Bradley, who are against the NBA restart. The other side consists of players like LeBron James and coaches like Doc Rivers who have been very vocal about it. The official NBA Twitter account has also released the game schedule for when the league returns.
