Most NBA players can be seen wearing high-end sneakers, both on and off the court. But there are only a few players that can fight over the title of sneaker king. Houston Rockets‘ P. J. Tucker and Spurs’ DeMar DeRozan are definitely two players that are in the race for the title.

When it comes to owning sneakers, Tucker reportedly has over 5,000 pairs of sneakers and a dedicated room in his house just for his kicks. Tucker even gave NBA fans a sneak peek at his collection in partnership with ESPN.

On the other hand, DeRozan is a sneaker fanatic as well. But his collection is nowhere close to Tucker’s collection, and yet, the 31-year is old wants to dethrone him. This led to DeMar posting a story on his Instagram account, taking a dig at PJ. He wrote, “@pjtucker keep posting shoes. Ima show everybody who really is the shoe head when it comes to these kicks! I be playing it cool. You got another post to show off and Ima Show Off! Respectfully lol.”

It was a clear dig at Tucker for having an unbelievable shoe collection. Tucker didn’t stay quiet on the matter and wrote a witty reply to DeMar DeRozan. He said, “#RESPECTFULLY Ayo can somebody tell my lil bro @demar_derozan if he want smoke he know better than anybody where to find me #RESPECTFULLY.”

While the two stars are engaging in this shoe war, one can’t forget that both players’ teams are in a dire state. For the Spurs, DeMar could leave anytime he wants by opting-out of the player option and for the Rockets, their small-ball lineup failed miserably in the playoffs. This could lead to franchise-altering decisions for the Rockets.

If this rumor turns out to be the truth, it could mean trouble for the San Antonio Spurs. They missed the playoffs this year and it will be tough to stay in the playoff race in the West without a definitive star next season.

What do you think? Should DeMar DeRozan leave the Spurs or run it back with them?
