Utah Jazz’s Rudy Gobert is the talk of the town in the NBA community. He was the first player to be tested positive for the terrible Coronavirus. After this, the NBA shut down all its operations. Gobert behaved very irresponsibly. He endangered others. Even though he issued a public apology, his actions have since affected innocent lives.

Rudy Gobert: Karma

The NBA had instituted a locker room ban. The media was fromthe locker room. It also restricted the distance that reporters could stand around the players. Foolishly enough, Gobert made it a point to touch every microphone, phone and recorder on the table as he finished up his press conference. He came down with coronavirus just days later.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that Gobert proceeded to carelessly touch other players and their belongings in the locker room. A very short amount of time later, Donovan Mitchell, Jazz’ shooting guard, was tested positive for the virus.

Now, an elementary school kid who had had an interaction with Gobert on 6th March has tested positive for the virus. The kid received an autograph from Gobert.

First COVID-19 case of the NBA faces backlash for ignorance

Gobert faced a justified amount of backlash about his ignorant behaviour from various sources.

“There is a lot of work to do to repair relationships, not just between Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, but others in the locker room. There’s a lot of frustration with Gobert.

“It’s going to be a test for all of them to get this team back on track if and when they return to playing the season,” Wojnarowski said.

Donovan Mitchell released a statement on Instagram. He is the second NBA player who tested positive for the virus. He highlighted the fact that people need to be responsible for their own health and that of those around them. This was probably directed towards Gobert.

I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of concern and support over the last 24 hours. I have gone through so many emotions since learning of my diagnosis…mostly fear, anxiety, and embarrassment. The first and most important thing is I would like to publicly apologize to the people that I may have endangered. At the time, I had no idea I was even infected. I was careless and make no excuse. I hope my story serves as a warning and causes everyone to take this seriously. I will do whatever I can to support using my experience as way to educate others and prevent the spread of this virus . I am under great care and will fully recover. Thank you again for all your support. I encourage everyone to take all of the steps to stay safe and healthy. Love.
