It was an exciting yet a near-disaster 138-132 Pelicans victory over the red-hot Utah Jazz. It was Brandon Ingram who carried the team over the top in what is certainly his greatest game as a pro. He scored a career-high 49 points in a good ol’ fashioned last-minute battle with Donovan Mitchell.

The Pelicans relied on the Ingram/Derrick Favors pick and roll to win in overtime. They overcame a Jazz’s team that was on a 10 game winning streak. In reality, the game should have ended just after 48 minutes.

The Pelicans were up 122-121 with just 0.2 seconds left when an out of bounds pass near hoop resulted in a foul on Jaxon Hayes. This sent Rudy Gobert to the free-throw line, but fortunately for the Pelicans, he made only one free throw.

Was this a Foul?

Ingram had scored 44 at the first final buzzer. Ingram’s liking for the mid-range is sight for sore eyes. He brings to mind of an elevating, drifting version of Kevin Durant there. It was his drive in overtime that garnered the sixth PF on Gobert to remove him from the paint.

Pelicans’ Backup Guards and Zo

Lonzo Ball was a big contributor too, finishing with his 13 assists. He always helps the team set  pace and tone to the offence. Backup Guard E’Twaun Moore scored 10 points in the first 8 minutes. NAW had a nifty steal and a left-hand dunk to finish the third. He finished with 12 points, 3 assists.

Donovan Mitchell and the Jazz

Mitchell Tied his career-high with 46 points, Bojan Bogdanovich scored 26. Rudy Gobert had 17 points and 14 rebounds before fouling out in overtime. Jordan Clarkson scored 15 and Joe Ingles had 12. All in all a pretty solid performance by the Jazz. The difference-maker became the duel of Ingram and Mitchell which the former won twice.
