Ferrari dropped a bomb when they announced the sacking of team boss, Maurizio Arrivabene, a mere couple months before the start of the season. They appointed Mattia Binotto in his place, with hopes of a new dawn under him.

Veteran F1 journalist, Jean-Louis Moncet, believes that Binotto will have to be “cold-blooded” at Ferrari in order to succeed.

“The televisions of the whole world are there, the eyes of the whole world are there, so there is no nonsense possible, no possible errors. This is where Mattia Binotto will have to be cold-blooded,” Moncet told the Charles Leclerc Fan Club.

Ferrari have lost the last five World Championships to Mercedes not won a title since 2008 when they won the Constructors’ Championship and their last drivers’ title came in 2007, when the recently exited, Kimi Raikkonen, won it for them in his debut season with the Scuderia.

However, Moncet was positive about Binotto and he had valid reasons for the optimism. “He is discreet and that’s why I like him,” he explained. “As for the car, he oversaw the creation and evolution of the 2018 so he knows how to make a good car.”

However, Moncet stressed on a very important factor for Ferrari to succeed again under Binotto. “I remember well how Jean Todt was working at that blessed time when the Scuderia started winning,” he said.

“There was absolutely everything to rebuild and for that he worked from 8:00 to 23:30. Will Mattia Binotto have enough time to get there, I do not know.”

Ferrari do have a very capable team with a four-time world champion in Vettel but the more exciting prospect is in the other car. 21-year-old Charles Leclerc has won titles in each year of his professional racing career and is expected to push his German teammate hard this season.
