Injury updates & team news:

Golden State Warriors-

With current situation of the Warriors, calling them shorthanded would be an understatement. It is almost as if they’ll be happy that at least they will not have to forfeit the game with lack of players.

Klay Thompson was expected to be out for season even before its start. When the hopes were on Stephen Curry to carry the team forward, he picked up an injury that is set to rule him out for the season.

D’Angelo Russell was bringing in a decent haul of points, but he is now injured for at least another couple of weeks. Kevon Looney is out with a hamstring injury, and shooting guard Damian Lee broke his hand and is out for an undetermined amount of time. Rookie Eric Paschall is currently their only fit guard to play against the Pelicans.

New Orleans Pelicans:

Like the Warriors, Pelicans have a fair bit of injury concerns themselves. They are already missing rookie Zion Williamson. JJ Redick, Jahlil Okafor, Frank Jackson and Derrick Favors are all listed as questionable for the Sunday’s game. Their leading scorer Brandon Ingram, along with Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart are likely both out for the game.

Warriors might once again find it difficult to overcome what has been their biggest shortcoming this season- their defence. Warriors have averaged 109 points per game which sounds good enough, but they have lost 11 of their 13 games so far this season. This can be due to their defence that has leaked around 119 points per game.

Although this is expected to be en even contest, the Pelicans might just edge past the Warriors, who still look weak defensively.
