The New York Knicks have made it clear that they’ve moved on from the Phil Jackson era, possibly from the Carmelo Anthony era too. For years Knicks were stuck, both as a team and as an organisation. They made horrible professional decisions by signing Joakim Noah to a 4 year, $72 million deal who was out due to injury half the time. Jackson allegedly forced ‘The Triangle Offence’ on the players even though he was not coaching the team, Jeff Hornacek was. Just a few days ago, Jackson was exploring possible trade destinations for Kristaps Porzingis. Fortunately no trade took place but this did force Knicks fans to come up with a unique way to protest against Jackson.

The good news is that the Knicks are looking to sign former Cavs GM David Griffin as a front office guy. Griffin was key in forming the big-three and bringing a championship in Cleveland. They are also looking to reach a buyout with Carmelo Anthony, if league sources are to be believed. Melo currently has two more years remaining in his contract with a player option in 2018. Enter, Kristaps Porzingis.

This is Porzingis’ queue to cut in as the superstar in New York. Porzingis has accomplished a lot in very little time in New York. If Melo is traded, Porzingis will be the sole alpha-male in New York. With a lot of cap room from shedding off Anthony’s salary, Knicks front office will be able to sign solid free agents and have a shot at playoffs next year. The New York Knicks have yet another chance of breaking the dreaded curse!
