Trey Lance might be taking over the spot of Jimmy Garoppolo in the San Francisco 49ers squad soon. The young blood quarterback is trying his best to get game-ready for the next season. To become the starter, Lance has been running routes with a former NFL MVP QB. The Baltimore Ravens Lamar Jackson was seen training with Lance.

It is currently the offseason, but the NFL athletes don’t really take the time off. They always want to stay a step ahead of the competition. If Jimmy G does not start for the Niners next season, that responsibility will fall on Trey Lance. The franchise and the fans are expecting big things from the young quarterback. 

Will Trey Lance take over Jimmy Garoppolo?

Jimmy Garoppolo is an excellent teammate and a true locker room leader. But recently, his game is being called out. Some say he is a good leader but not a good quarterback. Garoppolo started 18 games last season including the playoffs. But the veteran only managed to score 25 touchdowns and committed 18 turnovers throughout the year. The performance is unacceptable to the fans.

Many believe it is time for the young Trey Lance to step up and take Jimmy G’s place. We still do not know how well Lance can perform like a starting quarterback. He has only played 2.5 games in the NFL. But fans believe that he will be a significant upgrade. During his short time in the league, Lance has shown some potential. He can throw deep and could possibly bring a new type of game to San Francisco. The 49ers’ offense can get a fresh take under the new quarterback. There still are a lot of undiscovered things about the youngster, but the fans are willing to take a chance on him. Maybe he will be starting for the Niners soon.
