The Aaron Rodgers-Brett Favre parallels have been hard to ignore. While we can find two different generations arguing their favorite Green Bay Packers legend, the players themselves have completely different opinions. Rodgers’ recent appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ came with many groundbreaking revelations regarding the QB’s future among other things. However, one of Rodgers’ comments was not well-received by the NFL’s old heads. Many felt Rodgers was intentionally taking a jab at the Packers legend, Brett Favre.

Rodgers expressed himself as arguably the best player in the entire Green Bay Packers history, and while many current NFL fans would agree, those who witnessed Favre could not help but be offended.

Rodger went on to tackle most narratives around him, head-on, during his appearance on the Pat McAfee podcast. He even alluded to the reasons behind his falling out with Green Bay.

Rodgers went on to say, “I would say this is debatable, but I’m debatably the best player in franchise history, I’m in the conversation for sure. What’s not debatable is I’m the longest-tenured Packer in history. You can debate the first part, obviously, Bart (Starr), Brett (Favre), a number of names have been incredible. But you can’t debate that anybody has been there longer than I have. And nobody has bled green and gold like me.”

Rodgers definitely has the resume to share a table with some of the fellow Packers legends he mentioned. Just let’s not underestimate the name, Brett Favre.

As the starting QB of the Green Bay franchise, Favre amassed nearly 160 wins, taking over John Elway. In addition to winning a Super Bowl ring, Favre won three consecutive MVP awards (1995-1997) while being named an All-Pro six times.

The Rodgers-Favre parallels

Wisconsin witnessed Favre fading out with the years, as another future Packers legend’s star shone brightly. Rodgers wanting to move on to the Jets, and giving Jordan Love the space to grow is something that he has himself experienced.

The current scenario perfectly mirrors what transpired between Rodgers and Favre. Fifteen years ago, a veteran QB in Brett Favre was set to be traded to the New York Jets. And waiting patiently for his turn was a bright-eyed Aaron Rodgers.

Favre departed east with his claim as the best ever. History seems to be repeating itself as Rodgers has gone out and followed the same path unless proven otherwise. At the time of Favre’s trade, the Jets’ General Manager at the time, Mike Tannenbaum, said, “They felt like they were giving up a legend, but they felt really good about a young, emerging quarterback, Ironically, it was Aaron Rodgers.”
