After Cryptic Tweet, Rob Gronkowski Answers Return Rumors With Massive Announcement

Rob Gronkowski shook up the football world on Thursday when he sent out a layered message on the internet. The former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay tight end raised some serious anticipation levels only to reveal a fresh surprise on Friday. Gronk just joined the FanDuel family and NFL Twitter had its hopes up for nothing.

On Thursday, four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski tweeted, “I’m kinda bored.” And this sent shivers down the spines of Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans. And it wasn’t just the Florida area that paid attention. Gronk’s reply section was flooded with people begging him to come to their respective franchises. However, Friday cleared the air of confusion after FanDuel, one of the big players in the sports betting market, and Gronkowski announced their massive partnership.

Gronkowski joins former Colts punter and talk show host, Pat McAfee, NBA legend Charles Barkley, and many others in the star-studded FanDuel lineup. The official team-up came with a video announcement.

And looking at the video, fans could figure out the purpose of Thursday’s cryptic tweet. However, the initial confusion was justified, and it even got Gronk’s own agent, Drew Rosenhaus, curious. According to Gronk’s interview with Kay Adams, Drew called him up after the tweet and checked if he should start calling teams.

Rob Gronkowski didn’t say no to a return though and even had some major players call him after the tweet. In the Up & Adams episode, Tom Brady‘s former TE associate also revealed that he received calls from two NFL teams after his marketing gimmick tweet on Thursday. Rob didn’t say who they were. And when Kay asked if these teams were ones he had played for before, the 4x All-Pro replied, “Possibly and possibly not.

However, the biggest question in the interview was definitely Gronk’s intentions of returning to the gridiron. And luckily for NFL fans, Rob didn’t shut the door on that possibility entirely. Maybe not this year. But Gronk cannot predict next year’s outcome. “I’m saying there’s a chance, but a little chance,” the legendary TE said about coming back. However, there’s no return this season to save the 6-8 Buccaneers.
