“Baker Mayfield isn’t That Talented”- Former NFL Man Lashes Out at Browns Quarterback

Head Coach Kevin Stefanski had a debut to forget as his Cleveland-based franchise endured a humiliating 6-38 loss at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
Following this setback, the Browns have not won a single opening day game since 2004, which seems like an unbelievable stat. Lamar Jackson lived up to his NFL MVP tag and tore the Browns’ defense apart play-after-play.
But on the flip-side, third-year quarterback Baker Mayfield failed to even administer a minor dent on the scoreboard with some questionable decision-making in the middle.

Ryan Clark goes on an explosive rant trashing Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield
On the latest installment of ESPN First Take, former Pittsburgh Steelers man Ryan Clark left no stone unturned in his assessment of Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.
He said, “We should not be crushing Baker Mayfield this morning. You know why? Because Baker Mayfield isn’t that talented. So, in turn, it is our fault not his fault. It’s my fault that I thought he should have been number one overall, It’s my fault that I expected him to be a superstar.

“Because when you look at it, he’s not that talented…He’s not Russell Wilson, even though they’re the same height, he doesn’t actually have that type of arm strength, he doesn’t have that type of improvisation skills…he doesn’t have that type of talent,” Clark said on the show.
As far as stats are concerned, Clark is absolutely right. Mayfield completed just 21 of his 39 attempted passes in the loss against the Ravens. He threw for 189 yards and had one passing TD against one interception on Sunday.

All these figures aside, Mayfield never really looked in control of his offense, unlike Lamar Jackson, who dictated plays for his team.
There’s still a long way to go for the season to end. Cleveland Browns have three tough games on their schedule. They play Joe Burrow’s Cincinnati Bengals in Week Two before going up against one of the best defensive teams in the league, the Washington Football Team, a week later.
