‘Boogeyman’ Aaron Donald Gets High Praise from Young Head Coach Sean McVay for Carrying the Rams on His Shoulder

On Sunday, the Rams will play against Tom Brady and the Bucs, as both teams are looking to get back to winning ways. Before facing the Bucs, Rams head coach Sean McVay spoke to Curt Sandoval of ABC and talked about the impact of the Rams’ defensive tackle Aaron Donald.

Earlier, Raheem Morris, the Rams’ defensive coordinator, called the 280 lbs Donald a ‘Boogeyman’. Now, McVay also praised the 31-year-old star and his fantastic ability to make his teammates better.

In that interview, Sandoval told McVay about their defensive coordinator’s ‘Boogeyman’ comment on Donald. Agreeing with him, the young Rams coach said, There’s no doubt about it. I mean he affects the game in so many different ways, where the attention and you got to know where he is all the times and he does enable guys to be able to get one-on-ones that in a lot of instances they would not get otherwise.

“When he’s one-on-one, he’s about as automatic as it gets. So, I don’t think it’s by coincidence that guys that play around Aaron Donald usually play at their best because that’s what the greatest players do. They make others around them better and certainly, Aaron’s done that for a long time,” McVay further said. 

McVay also praised Leonard Floyd for getting 2 sacks in the previous games against the 49ers. Although they lost the game against the Niners pretty badly, the head coach still found a lot of positives. Apart from praising Donald, McVay praised his whole defensive unit for putting up a strong performance.

The Rams will face the Bucs in a must-win game

Last season’s Super Bowl champions, the Rams have not made a great start this season winning only 3 games out of 7. On the other hand, the Bucs also made a pretty poor start to this season, where they lost five out of seven games.

Safe to say, both teams are looking for a win, as they are eying for the playoffs. Rams head coach McVay talked about facing Brady possibly for the final time this season, as the Bucs quarterback could potentially retire if he misses the playoffs this season.

Meanwhile, the youngest coach to win a Super Bowl could also retire from professional coaching if the core group of the Rams leaves the team, which includes Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald, Cooper Kupp, and Jalen Ramsey. However, right now, he is focusing on the team and qualifying for the playoffs.
