Doug Pederson’s Philadelphia Eagles were the surprise package from the 2019 season. Despite all odds stacked up against them, the Eagles made their way to the NFC East Division title. A large portion of that credit is down to some brilliant individual performances from the likes of star quarterback Carson Wentz and tight ends Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz.

Goedert and Ertz posted 1,500+ receiving yards between them with Wentz calling the shots from the shotgun formation. Ahead of the 2020 season, the focus will once again be on the two stars. The Eagles are currently involved in contract extension talks with Ertz. The Stanford College graduates signed a five-year extension in 2016 worth $42.5 million($20 million in guarantees).

“Yeah, what I know is that I got em both right now. That’s what I do know and they’re both, in my opinion, match-up nightmares. They both do a tremendous job, both in the running game and obviously catching the ball.”

“They bring unique skills and Zach’s been one of the best in the league for a long time and obviously I have a close friendship and relationship with him and with Dallas now as well. What I do know is I got em both right now and they’re gonna be creating problems for defenses all season long,” Wentz told Garafolo.

Wentz was terrific for the Eagles over the course of the 2019 season. Despite multiple injuries, to himself and his teammates, the seasoned NFL quarterback led the Philadelphia based NFL side to the playoffs. They even clinched the NFC East Division title but were knocked out in the Wildcard playoff round with a 17-9 loss to Russell Wilson-led Seattle Seahawks. He will be eager to improve on that display when the season starts next month.
