Can Seahawks WR DK Metcalf Beat Rival Tyreek Hill at Olympics 100m Sprint?

DK Metcalf has recently announced his plans to make the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Seahawks receiver has been passionate about having a track & field career alongside NFL. Even though he is diagnosed to wear orthopedic boots, the 24-year-old intends to represent the USA in France. 

However, he is not the only one in the NFL who aspires to be an Olympic athlete. Tyreek Hill, who is arguably the fastest man in the league, also has ambitions to go beyond the horizons of football and enter the arena track & field. But are the two speedsters fast enough to make the Olympics, considering the time required to qualify for a 100m race is 10.05 seconds?

It is not the first time that DK has been so passionate about track & field. He also ran at the USATF Golden Games and Distance Open in Walnut, California, last year. The 6 foot 4 beast, clocked 10.36s in his race with the elite racers of the country, shocking the NFL with his incredible speed.

Speaking of Tyreek Hill, who has a long history as a track & field athlete, there might not be much of a competition between the two. The Chiefs star clocked a jaw-dropping 9.98s 100m time which is considered unofficial. However, his legal personal best is 10.19s, which is again more than DK.

So judging by their 100m PB, the two might not qualify for the Olympics. But since they are NFL athletes, not comparing them in a relatively shorter distance, might not do justice to their remarkable skills.

The two wide receivers are always proud of their speed in the gridiron. But who would do better in a 40-yard dash? DK, during his 2019 NFL Combine, timed a rocking 4.33s 40-yard dash which made him shed tears of happiness. However, on the other hand, Tyreek, who did not run during his 2016 NFL combine, recorded a 4.29s 40-yard dash, in his West Alabama Pro Day, as per Sportsnaut.

This incredible timing makes Hill one of the fastest players in the NFL ever. However, if the comparison still sounds unconvincing, then maybe an analysis of their top speeds might do the job. The two speedsters, during their career, have made many runs that showcase their exceptional speed. But there exist some standout plays by both of them that might just blow minds.

Who wins the Top Speed battle? 

According to FOX News, Metcalf, during one of his plays in the 2020 season, tackled down the Cardinals safety Budda Baker after a 114.8-yard chase. During that play, Metcalf recorded a freakish 22.64 mph top speed that to date remains his highest inside the gridiron. However, the Cheetah still overtakes the beast. Hill, during his 19-12 loss to the Texans in the 2017 regular season, clocked a cold-blooded 23.24 mph 105-yard kickoff return which resulted in a touchdown. 

However, considering the fact that these times have been recorded quite a while back; it might not be surprising to see DK surpass the Cheetah after his intense offseason training for the 2024 Olympics.
