“Can’t take the Dallas Cowboys seriously” – Colin Cowherd Slams Jerry Jones’ Team

It’s hard to fathom that the Dallas Cowboys last played in a Super Bowl back in 1996. That’s over two decades ago. Since then, owner Jerry Jones has continued to chase his dream of winning another Lombardi Trophy.
It’s been a while since the Cowboys roster has terrified NFL teams in the NFC East and the league on the whole. In 2019, the Cowboys ended their regular season with an 8-8 record. They were second in NFC East and failed to qualify for the playoffs.
Jones has had a busy offseason. He brought in former Green Bay Packers coach, Mike McCarthy, to lead the ship heading into the new decade. The Cowboys also brought in two talented rookies in the form of wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and cornerback Trevon Diggs. They failed to agree on a long-term extension with franchise quarterback Dak Prescott. However, he will remain in Dallas this season on a one-year franchise tag worth $31.4 million.

In theory, the Cowboys are one of the top teams to beat heading into the 2020 season. But a certain NFL sportscaster suggests that the end result could be otherwise.

Colin Cowherd went on a lengthy rant on how the Dallas Cowboys are like a ‘blockbuster’ movie that arrives in theatres in the summer. While entertaining and full of stars, these films never really bag major awards. Their primary purpose is to entertain the masses, and that’s what they do. On the recent installment of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, the host even took multiple digs at Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

On paper, the Cowboys boast one of the best rosters in the NFC East. Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, and Michael Gallup were the biggest names from 2019. They are joined by rookies CeeDee Lamb and Trevon Diggs in 2020.

Colin said that Jones has not been smart in the market over the last two decades. Let’s hope that Colin is wrong in this scenario and that the Cowboys can live up to expectations heading into 2020.

Coach Mike McCarthy will hope that his star-studded squad can start the 2020 season on a positive note.
