The 2019 Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow was having a decent debut season in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals. The former LSU man was in contention for the Rookie of the Year award along with Justin Herbert.

However, a season-ending injury in Week 11 means that Burrow’s first year in the NFL ends on a sour note. But when one door closes, another window opens.

Joe Burrow faces a reported 12-month (at least) rehabilitation period after suffering ACL, MCL, and multiple knee strains. In his absence, the Bengals had to bring in backup quarterback Ryan Finley on Sunday to see out the game against the Washington Football Team.

Cincinnati Bengals sign quarterback Brandon Allen from the practice squad

Zac Taylor and the Bengals have promoted 28-year-old athlete Brandon Allen to their matchday roster. With Burrow being ruled out until Week 10-11 of the 2021 season, the Bengals need multiple quarterbacks in their squad.

Here’s what NFL insider Tom Pelissero said about the Bengals’ recent roster change. “Makes sense. Brandon Allen knows Zac Taylor’s offense going back to their days with the #Rams and showed some promise in three starts last season in Denver.”

Allen joined the NFL in 2016 with Jacksonville Jaguars. He was drafted in the 6th round of the draft process 4 years ago. However, he impressed with the Broncos in 3 starts last season. He led Denver to a 1-2 record but parted ways with Vic Fangio’s team in the offseason.

Allen has previously played under Zac Taylor while they both represented NFC West franchise Los Angeles Rams. The former Arkansas Razorbacks quarterback is expected to start for the Bengals in Week 12 against the New York Giants.
