Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow has been at the receiving end of some nasty blows over the last three weeks. The former LSU star has been sacked 14 times in the first three NFL games of his career. He is on track to match the NFL single-season record of 75 sacks.

Burrow’s sack rate of 9% is the third-highest in the league behind Houston Texans’ Deshaun Watson and Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson. Despite getting torn apart week-in and week-out, Burrow shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Here’s what the number one NFL draft pick’s coaches in Cincinnati had to say about their star player.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow continues to take hit after hit in his rookie year

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator, Brian Callahan, heaped praise at the rookie, Joe Burrow. He wants his franchise quarterback to keep pushing on, despite the number of tackles he is subjected to on a weekly basis.

“You don’t want your quarterback to get hit as much as he has. Some of those are on protection, just pure pass protection. Some of those are on him and the style of his play. The play is never over for him. He does everything he can to keep it alive,” Callahan said via Ben Baby.

Meanwhile, Head Coach Zac Taylor also echoed the same sentiment ahead of the team’s Week Three clash against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“That makes Joe the player that he is. He’s not afraid to take those hits and put himself in those positions because it means explosive plays. There is a balance of being smart and putting yourself in that position,” Taylor added.
