Concerning Update on Ndamukong Suh Future at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh appears to be on the chopping block this offseason despite his interest to stay. The franchise recognizes the impact that Suh has been during his tenure but will not be making him a priority signing yet. Buccaneers GM Jason Licht has been operating behind the scenes to possibly replace Suh during the 2022 NFL Draft.
The franchise selected DL Logan Hall with their 33rd overall pick but has not completely given up on thoughts of re-signing Suh. While he has been an impact player in recent seasons, the Buccaneers find themselves with a complex cap situation. The current focus for the Bucs seems to be bringing back TE Rob Gronkowski and acquiring draft picks before the 2022 NFL campaign.

Despite a sliver of hope for Suh in staying with the team, the franchise didn’t place a UFA tender on Suh, who played at a $9 million salary last year. It makes signing him a less attractive option for teams as they won’t get draft compensation. Licht seems to be trying to solve the bigger issues at hand, and Suh doesn’t seem to be garnering any attention.
Is Ndamukong Suh an unwanted player in Tampa Bay?
According to Greg Auman of The Athletic, the Buccaneers using their high-value draft pick this season at his position is a clear signal for Suh. The new acquisition Hall will be in line for receiving more opportunities in his rookie season. It appears best for Suh and the team to part ways. Last season, Suh recorded 27 total tackles, 13 QB hits, 6 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery.

It appears that time might be up for Suh to end his 3-year association with the franchise. The 5-time Pro Bowler also won a Super Bowl title in his 2nd NFL campaign as a Buccaneer.

Suh made his presence known during his time with the Detroit Lions before joining the Buccaneers in 2019.
The Buccaneers fans will hope that the parting of ways will be a move that works out for both parties. The 2022 NFL campaign could serve as a debut for the new guard in Tampa Bay.
