The 2020 NFL season went from 100 to 0 pretty quick for the Jerry Jones-owned Dallas Cowboys. Prior to the start of their 2020 campaign, the Cowboys were being touted as outside favorites to make this year’s Super Bowl.

They brought in the experienced Mike McCarthy to take over as Head Coach in the offseason.

They also made some smart roster moves in the summer. The Dallas-based franchise drafted promising rookies in the form of WR CeeDee Lamb and CB Trevon Diggs earlier this year.

With the arrival of Lamb and the pre-existing arsenal of RB Ezekiel Elliott, WR Amari Cooper, and WR Michael Gallup, the Cowboys boasted a strong offensive team, well at least on paper.

However, a few weeks into the season, it was clear that McCarthy’s Dallas Cowboys were far from a ‘finished product’. A season-ending injury to star quarterback Dak Prescott in Week 5 against the New York Giants summed up the misfortune associated with the Cowboys this season.

Dak Prescott’s entourage and the Cowboys’ management board led by Jerry Jones were embroiled in lengthy contract discussions throughout the summer.

After failing to agree on a suitable deal for all parties, Prescott finally agreed to play on a franchise tag worth $31.4 million in 2020.

Prescott suffered a double compound fracture on his right ankle in the game against the Giants at the MetLife Stadium. He underwent surgery a day later and was subsequently ruled out for the rest of the season.

Despite all the uncertainty surrounding Dak’s short-term future in Texas, Mr. Jones insists that their ‘prized asset’ is going nowhere anytime soon.

“Yes, it’s crazy to bring the idea up and I’m answering yes. We’re playing games here, guys, but it’s not the thing to be talking about at all. Dak Prescott is our quarterback,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan.

Despite featuring in just 5 games this year, Prescott amassed a total of 1,800+ passing yards with 9 passing TDs to his name against 4 interceptions. The Cowboys have not won a single game since Prescott was put on the IR list.
