The Dallas Cowboys have had a torrid season so far. The Cowboys are 4th in the NFC East and have a 3-8 record this season. They have performed poorly since Dak Prescott injured himself. Prescott’s absence has shown how much the Cowboys rely on him.

Former NFL player Marcellus Wiley went on ‘Speak For Yourself’ to talk about the Cowboys and what their problem is. Wiley suggests that the Cowboys are indeed built to win when Prescott is on the field. His absence has driven up his value.

He said, “Yes, his price tag has gone up this year. For several reasons. One, they are built to win. When someone says that term, what they are meaning is, ‘Do you have all the necessary parts for you to be victorious in this league, for you to win in this league?’. Yes, they have all the parts.”  

Wiley compared the Cowboys team to a car and likened Prescott to a new driver. “Imagine if you have all the parts to build a car, you actually can build a car.

“But then who is the driver? And then when you realize that you don’t have the proper driver, then you realize we were built to win but we can’t go where we want to go.”

Wiley talked about the idea of Andy Dalton being the backup for Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys. “Because Dak is not in the lineup. And who is the driver in this team without Dak Prescott?

“We’ve seen several quarterbacks, but let’s focus in on Andy Dalton just for starters. Why? Because Andy Dalton, outside of Jameis Winston, was supposed to be the best back up that your money could buy in the NFL.”

While Wiley was appreciative of Dalton, he pointed out the fall in quality since he took over the starting quarterback duties from Dak Prescott. The numbers Wiley presented, according to him, help Prescott’s value surge in free agency.

He said, “How has that turned out for the Dallas Cowboys? Not so well. Look at this situation without Dak. Ezekiel Elliott is affected. Averaged 73 yards a game with Dak, now down to  57 yards a game… That’s the Dak effect right now.

“One, you can show it through your own production that, ‘Hey my price tag should be up there’. Two, you get to see the disparity of this offense with me and this offense without me…

“He’s sitting back at home making mailbox money thinking of how inept this offense is without him.”

While Prescott is the driving force behind the Dallas Cowboys, he may have already played his last game for them. Prescott becomes a free agent next year and can sign with any team that offers him good money.
