NFC East leaders Dallas Cowboys had a fiery start to their season. Unfortunately, it looks like they have fallen off a cliff in their last four encounters. With 3 losses in their last 4 matches, things seem to not go all too well at the Cowboys camp and last night’s bizarre event is a testament to that.

Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy cannot explain how his team got 28 penalties

In their overtime loss to the Raiders last night, the Cowboys established a franchise mark with 166 penalty yards. Their previous record was 161 against Washington in 1970. Post match, Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy was asked about his team’s performance, and safe to say, he wasn’t happy. “Twenty-eight penalties,” Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said. “‘I don’t really know what the hell you want me to say. Write whatever you want. I’m all for it.”

Cowboys Linebacker Micah Parsons also shared similar sentiments and believed that they fell victim to some really bad calls. “I feel bad for my guys cause I know some of the penalties were 50/50; some would say really bad calls,” Parsons said.

Parsons further emphasised on the injustice by talking about the aggressiveness in football. “It doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, football is an aggressive game and you’re gonna attack the ball, and you’re gonna play through the ball, and you’re gonna play the defender. End of the day, it’s gonna come to a point and time, where when, are you going to let us truly play?”

Dak Prescott unhappy with consecutive loss; hints at officials targeting his team

Star quarterback Dak Prescott was also questioned post match about the penalty and he accepted it affected the rhythm of the team. The quarterback also added the undoubtedly, they need to improve as well.

“It’s obvious. They definitely affected the game,” quarterback Dak Prescott said. “But we’ve got to self-reflect and keep the officials out of the game. One way or another, we’ve got to be better. We’ve got to be disciplined. We’ve got to focus on controlling what we can control. Obviously, they’re going to happen.

Dak continued his speech and later addressed the elephant in the room. He felt undone by the officiating in the match hinted that the officials might be biased. “Feel like we’re targeted a little bit, but in the same instance, yeah, we’ve got to be better on our end to try to keep them out of the game,” said Prescott.
