Derek Carr falling short for the Raiders

QB Derek Carr’s starting spot may be on the line as the Raiders may consider releasing the quarterback. With a poor showing, this season, the Raiders are questioning their decision of extending their quarterback’s contract. Carr has been with the Raiders since their Oakland days and was drafted by them in 2014. Ever since, he has been their QB. The Raiders have been an average team. Carr just let led them to a postseason dance during one campaign in his eight-year career. That too was a short-lived one.

This year he signed an extension worth over $120 million with a no-trade clause. With no guaranteed money, the Raiders could release him before this three-year period.

New team for Carr?

The Raiders are currently on a 3 game losing streak. One of those losses even had a complete shutout for the Raiders’ offense. The Saints’ defense overpowered them, not allowing Derek Carr and his O-line a single point in the game as they lost 24-0.

The Raiders’ offense was strengthened in the off-season by their front office as they roped in Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers. The Raiders reunited Carr and Adams after their time at Fresno State. This was a huge commitment they showed towards their quarterback by strengthening the squad according to his comfort. However, it hasn’t seemed all that fruitful for them.
