Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the oldest teams in the National Football League. They represent Pittsburgh. Arthur J. Rooney founded the Steelers in 1933. It is the seventh oldest team in the NFL. For the first 40 years, the Steelers struggled to win the championship and failed. It was in the year 1972 that they won their first AFC Championship.
In the 1970s the Steelers earned eight playoff berths consecutively, four AFC championships between 1972 and 1979, and seven AFC Central titles. The Pittsburgh Steelers were the first team to win four Super Bowls. Not just that they were the only team to win Super Bowl back to back twice in a row. Now they are the only team to have won six Super Bowls.

The guiding light for the Pittsburgh Steelers
The players might have scored on the field, but without these guiding lights, it wouldn’t have been possible. The Steelers have always had a tremendous set of guiding lights throughout. Most of the credit goes to these coaches for the victories.
To date, there have been 16 head coaches for the Steelers, from the time the world knew them as the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, some were way above others like Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher, and Mike Tomlin.

Chuck Noll took the leadership of the Steelers in 1969. Under his guidance, in 1972 the Steelers won the Super Bowl four times, two times back to back. Noll coached them through the 1980s and into the 1990s.
Bill Cowher took over the leadership f the Steelers from Chuck Noll in the year 1992. Under his leadership, the team went to Super Bowl XXX but unfortunately lost to the Dallas Cowboys. In 2005, they defeated the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL.

After Cowher, the team had a new leader, Mike Tomlin. With Tomlin, the Steelers won the Super Bowl in the second season. They remain unbeaten in 2020 heading into Week 13, sitting comfortably at the top of the AFC North Division table.
