Kansas City Chiefs had a shaky start to their 2020 season campaign as they fell behind 0-7 in the opening quarter of Thursday night’s game against the Houston Texans. However, coach Andy Reid and some impressive displays from Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and rookie running back, Clyde Edwards-Helaire helped the Chiefs pull off a 34-20 win on opening day.

The defending Super Bowl champions start the season as firm favorites to go all the way once again. With Brett Veach as GM, the Chiefs are aiming to replicate what Tom Brady and Bill Belichick did with New England Patriots last decade. In other words, they want to build a ‘dynasty’ of their own.

Long-term deals to Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and others is the right step in that direction. Former Denver Broncos’ great and NFL legend, Shannon Sharpe, backs the Chiefs to accomplish that goal over the course of the 2020 season.

“It’s going to be very difficult to stop this team Skip, when you look at the numbers. Mahomes? I mean he just ain’t going to throw an interception on opening day Skip, that just ain’t going to happen…he should have had four touchdowns because Robinson dropped one.”

“Normally, when we think of Chiefs, we think of a quick strike. 50 yards, 60 yards, over the top, boom, gone. Now, they’re going 11 plays – 75 yards, 16 plays – 85 yards, that’s the longest drive of his (Pat Mahomes) young career. Now they can hit you with the quick strike and they can grind a game out,” Sharpe said on the show.

The Chiefs continue their quest to defend their Super Bowl title with a game against Los Angeles Chargers in Week Two. Coach Andy Reid will back the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Mecole Hardman, Tyreek Hill, and of course, rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire to shine once again. Will Sharpe’s prediction come true when the season ends later this year or will Mahomes and Co. ‘crash and burn’ as the season goes on?
