The Green Bay Packers have had big moments in the NFL Draft over the past years. Nobody appreciates premium draft choices more than Green Bay Packers GM, Brian Gutekunst. He has climbed up three times in the first round and five times total in his past 4 NFL Drafts. It has occurred this year as well, but this time it was for a wide receiver.

With Jordy Rodgers, Randall Cobb, and Davante Adams, the Packers had quite a great deal of success picking wide receivers in the second round prior. This year also appears to be a great way to invest in a high-performance speedster.

Sometimes the fit is so obvious that anyone can see it. This counts NFL teams. They affiliated the Green Bay Packers to Christian Watson for the majority, if not most, of the springtime, and for a legitimate reason. His agility and level of expertise were a perfect fit for the Green Bay attack, and while he was still in his early stages. There seems to be plenty to admire about the match.

GM Gutekunst traded both of his second-round choices (No 53 and 59) towards their rivals, the Minnesota Vikings, in exchange for the 34th overall selection. He used it to choose North Dakota State wide receiver, Christian Watson, and add him to Aaron Rodgers’ star-studded arsenal.

Is he the ideal WR candidate for the Green Bay Packers?

At 6’4″ and 208 pounds, the Tampa, Florida native combines both speed and athleticism. This provides Aaron Rodgers with a formidable running threat. He’s had a spectacular climb, which culminated in a Combine performance that garnered him a lot of praise (4.36 in the 40, 38.5-inch vert, and a combine-best 11’4″ broad jump).

In 2018, he had only nine receptions as a sophomore. Then, throughout his two full seasons with the Bison, he had 77 receptions for 1532 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 28 carries for 276 yards and two additional touchdowns. He has also earned the first-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors multiple times.

In any case, the Packers get a new big target. They will almost certainly acquire a few others, but the attention can now shift to certain other categories in the opening rounds, such as offensive line and edge rusher.
