Baker Mayfield is on the proverbial ‘hot seat’ at the moment. The former Heisman Trophy winner endured two contrasting seasons in the NFL. He started his rookie year with the Cleveland Browns right where he left off at Oklahoma. He made his NFL debut in Week 3 of his rookie season as he replaced an injured Tyrod Taylor.

The Browns were down by 14 against the New York Jets when Mayfield stepped onto the field on that fateful day in 2018. The former Oklahoma Sooners man went 17 of 23. He threw for 201 yards as the Browns fought back to a 21–17. In doing so, the young quarterback ended Cleveland’s losing streak at 19. He also became the first player since Fran Tarkenton in 1961 to come off the bench, throw for more than 200 yards and guide his team to their first win of the season.

However, after a decent rookie year, Mayfield had a rather underwhelming sophomore season with the Browns in 2019. Despite this mixed bag of results, Browns’ new tight end, Austin Hooper believes that Mayfield has that ‘swag’ factor in him which separates him from the other QBs in the league.

While speaking to ESPN’s Jake Trotter, Hooper spoke highly of his new teammate. The two-time Pro Bowler will play alongside Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr, and Myles Garrett in Head Coach Kevin Stefanski’s new-look Cleveland Browns team.

Hooper began his NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons back in 2016. The Stanford college graduate was picked in the third round of the 2016 draft and spent three years in Atlanta. Hooper was named to last year’s Pro Bowl in place of the injured George Kittle. He signed a four-year contract with the Browns earlier this year worth $44 million, with a $10 million signing bonus.
