“He’s Been a Punching Bag” – Analyst Defends New York Giants GM Dave Gettleman

After a poor start to the season, Joe Judge-led New York Giants remain in contention to make the NFL playoffs in 2020. The NFC East franchise made their way to comprehensive 12-17 win over NFC West big boys, Seattle Seahawks.
Veteran quarterback Colt McCoy stepped in for the injured Daniel Jones and put in a decent display. But the real stars of the show were the Giants defensive players who kept the likes of DK Metcalf, Russell Wilson and Tyler Lockett away from the End Zone.
The Giants are now unbeaten in their last four league encounters and sit comfortably in control of their respective decision. But who do they have to thank for this sudden rise to prominence? Here’s what NFL analyst Peter Schrager has to say on the same.

New York Giants GM Dave Gettleman deserves more respect, says Schrager
"He's been a punching bag on this network, on ESPN & on local sports radio here in NY. But I'm watching the @Giants & I'm seeing a lot of young talent, good veteran leaders, & old school Giants football. Are we allowed to praise Dave Gettleman for building a good team?"-@PSchrags pic.twitter.com/nNk4hdVLOV

The Giants are enjoying a fine run in the latter half of the season. A big reason behind that is the behind-the-scenes work done by general manager Dave Gettleman.
On the latest segment for GMFB, co-host Peter Schrager spoke about a possible playoff spot for the Giants if they continue playing the way they are at the moment.

“The giants are a good solid, well-disciplined and well-built team. I don’t know what they do for them right now from here on out but like they get say Quan back next year, they get Daniel Jones back next year. They get Blake Martinez back maybe next week, maybe next year.”
“I thought about the Giants real briefly. Dave Gettleman, the general manager, has long been a punching bag in media circles not only on this network but other networks and specifically in New York local talk radio…we can beat up on gentlemen all we want, the Giants have assembled this really young, really feisty, really smart roster and they come to compete every single week,” Schrager said on the show.
The Giants are sitting at the summit of the NFC East as we approach Week 14. They will play Kyler Murray-led Arizona Cardinals this weekend as they push for a spot in the knockouts. They’ve already proved their doubters wrong, but can they take it up a notch in the coming weeks? We’ll find out soon enough.
