The 2020 NFL season has been surrounded by the deadly coronavirus pandemic. Teams have been careful to take the necessary precautions in order to curb the spread of this deadly virus within the league. Various NFL organizations and individual players themselves have partnered with local community NGOs in order to help the people in their neighborhood. A certain Houston Texans star is taking things a step further by personally going out into his community and engaging in community welfare activities.

Saturday is Halloween, and kids across America are gearing up to celebrate this occasion. However, things will be a bit different this time around. Kids will be required to follow the COVID-19 protocols for their own personal safety. But Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is not letting anything dampen the atmosphere surrounding this joyous tradition.

The 25-year-old star purchased Halloween costumes for kids of Pro Vision School earlier in the week and in total, his charity has raised more than $100,000 this week.

Watson has always made sure to give back to his community. He donated his first Texans paycheck (almost $27,000) to three NRG employees. In the 2020 offseason, the Texans quarterback joined forces with Reliant Energy to donate about $175,000 worth of tech, including laptops, to kids in Houston.

“(I’m going to) rest. That’s it, pretty much. I’m tired. It’s been a lot from Covid, to a coaching change, to losses. to success. to family and just everything. So it’s a good time for me to be able to decompress and figure out this second half of the season. Then come back to work and just finish it out as strong a possible. So that’s what I’m going to do,” Watson told Sports Illustrated.

The Texans are 1-6 as we approach Week Eight. They will need a miraculous turnaround to get back in contention for a playoff spot. Who knows? Maybe Watson’s good deeds off the football field will get him some positive karma off his own. They need ‘lady luck’ to return to their side.
