Patrick Mahomes was not a happy camper last season. Imagine being within a hair’s breadth from the Super Bowl and missing out on it. Mahomes, like the rest of the NFL World, was at home watching the game. There are not many ways to put that kind of frustration into words.

The Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Cincinnati Bengals in their next bout. The Bengals were the primary reason for the halt in the Chiefs’ pursuit of the title last season. An epic AFC championship battle saw the Bengals triumph over the Chiefs. Now, Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes will go head to head in a repeat of last year’s conference final.

Patrick Mahomes was not the happiest man last season

The Bengals will host the Chiefs in a Week 13 showdown. For those who do not understand the significance of this game, let us indulge in some story time. Joe burrow and the Bengals looked like they were going to bid their Super Bowl dreams adieu in last year’s conference finals. The Chiefs were dominant through the first half. But the Bengals came back from an 18-point deficit to take the game.

Ahead of this season’s faceoff with the Bengals, Mahomes was asked an important question. How often does he think of last year’s game? The quarterback said, “Not really a lot. Once the season ended and I wasn’t in the Super Bowl. And I had to watch it from my couch in Texas. I kinda just moved on knowing that you need to keep getting better, you need to keep moving up, forward.” The 27-year-old also added, “If you want to have success that next season you can’t dwell on what happened the last season, you have to learn from it and get from it.” Those are wise words from the quarterback. But, Mahomes will look forward to righting his wrongs from last season.

Mahomes or Burrow? Who will emerge victorious?

The Chiefs have had an incredible run this season. Their quarterback is also a favorite in this year’s race for the Most Valuable Player Award.
