The exit of Colin Kaepernick from the NFL raised many questions. Some were in favor of what Kap stood for. Others thought that Kaepernick’s actions weren’t appropriate.
As a result, no team wanted to take the risk of reintroducing Kaepernick into the league. In 2017, Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks’ owner, spoke about it. He believed that Kap’s situation would have been handled differently in the NBA than it was in the NFL.

Mark Cuban said, “I don’t know what his status is in the NFL, but I’m glad the NBA doesn’t have a politician litmus test for our players. I’d like to think we encourage our players to exercise their constitutional rights.”

We have seen many superstars of the NBA like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James use their popularity to highlight the issues in their country. Probably because the NBA stars are more of a global icon than NFL players, they are bound to act on the causes that need help.

Colin Kaepernick last played a game in the NFL in 2016. In 2017, he became a free agent after spending the entirety of his career with the San Francisco 49ers. Since then, he has been out of the league.
No team has shown serious interest in getting him. It could be because of multiple things. Maybe Kaepernick isn’t good anymore. Or, teams are just avoiding being in the middle of controversies by signing him.
