Interesting Development in Tampa Bay: Mac Jones and Patriots WRs Conduct Impromptu Training Session

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones became the recent Patriot to be making his way to Tampa. But the reasons are much different for this Patriots QB, who is only training with his wide receivers. Ahead of the 2022 NFL campaign, Jones was all smiles as he trained with his teammates in the Florida sun.

A video from Patriots WR Kendrick Bourne on social media showcased how they were enjoying their training session. Apart from Bourne, the clip showed wideouts Nelson Agholor, Jakobi Meyers, and running back J.J. Taylor also running routes.

Ahead of a crucial 2nd season in the league, Jones will need to show his talents to head coach Bill Belichick.

There appears to be developing chemistry between Jones and his teammates as they plot a return to the postseason. Among other memorable moments from the clip are the fitness levels of both Jakobi Meyers and Jones himself. There are promising signs for all Patriots fans about Jones, who will be keen to prove himself.

Mac Jones needs to deliver with his talents

Even Jones’ former Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels had some sage words of advice for the young QB. The change in the rules has given teams a handful of weeks to work with their players. He does point out that the rules have forced players to prepare and do it by themselves.

McDaniels, during the AFC Coaches Breakfast at The Breakers, talks about young QBs like Jones, stating, “I think for a lot of young players, if you can digest that and understand, ‘I have a lot of responsibility to improve myself. I can’t just wait for somebody else to do it,’ I think that’s a big thing. And I’m sure Mac is doing that as we speak.

While McDaniels had a part to play in his standout rookie season, the onus falls on Jones to capitalize on the situation. There have been some changes in the Patriots roster, but Jones will be looking to lead them in the upcoming season.
