Geno Smith will negotiate a new contract during the offseason and going by his current form, it seems like he deserves a substantial raise. The QB, who has been a backup all his career, did not let the Seahawks miss Russell Wilson. And the Seahawks are the favorites to sign him again. Only something drastic can put off the Seahawks-Geno Smith contract negotiations. But how much will the contract be worth?

At this point, every figure out there is speculation. But many experts have pegged it to be in the range of $23 million to $38 million. Even if it is averaged out, the figure comes out at a staggering $31 million. Many NFL General Managers believe that is the figure where any negotiation with Smith will go.
If this is true, then Geno Smith, in the next season, will make twice the amount of money he made in the last decade in the NFL, combined. Smith has made somewhere between $14 million to $17 million in the last ten years.
The rise of a superstar
Geno Smith has led the Seahawks to a great season so far. They are already eyeing the playoffs and another shot at the Vince Lombardi trophy. The Seahawks have won six of their first ten games of the season.

Many believed that the Russell Wilson trade to the Broncos would hurt the Seahawks’ chances this season. But Smith has filled that void perfectly. The QB has a 72.8% pass completion rate, the highest in the league so far. Smith has thrown 17 touchdown passes for the Seahawks in the first 10 games of the season. The opposing defenses have intercepted just four of his passes since the season began. Some mind-boggling numbers.

The Seahawks sit at the top of the NFC West divisional table and barring an implosion, they will end the regular season there. But the real question is, how long will they go in the postseason? Can they go all the way to the Super Bowl?
